Summative Grade 12 Graphic Design Part 1
Ok, so round two, since I changed my mind about my first idea.
I want to photograph every single item of clothing/ accessory that I’ve gotten from a vintage/ second hand store. I’m guessing I’ll have about 100 items or something. Anyway, I’ll sort them all and have a part for normal clothes, a part for dresses, a part for shoes, and a part for accessories. Let me guess Bishop,... you’re hating this even more than my last idea?
Anyway!
That’s what I’m gonna do. And it’s still gonna be scrapbooky and have lots of coloured paper and it will have some text because I’ll have a small amount of writing in the corner listing the brand and the place I got it from.
1. What is your book about?
It’s about all of the clothes I’ve ever gotten from a vintage/ second hand store.
2. What makes your content choice specific to you?
I’m a shopaholic sometimes. A lot of the time.
3. How are you going to represent your content?
I’m going to represent my content in pictures. Kinda in a “Lookbook” style.
4. How do you intend to communicate the content?
I intend to communicate the content by making the book look like a closet :D
5. What content editing methods will you use?
I’ll use GIMP to edit my photos, and other than that I will use spell check on my writing and use a paper cutter to make sure all of my lines are straight.
6. What media are you using to make your imagery?
My imagery will be in the form of pictures, cutouts, and other things that will stick to paper
7. Why are you making this particular book?
I’m making this particular book because it’s a cool way to document all of the crazy 2nd hand stuff I have. Plus I need to arrange my closet, so this is kinda like a good excuse to do that.
8. How does your choice of content suit your skills, experience, and interest?
I like photography, I like clothes, and I got a new camera. So taking pictures of clothes works.
9. Describe the style and look of your book and how it is linked to the content.
Scrapbook! Kinda symbolic. Really colourful.
Summative Part 2
Schedule (10)
May 23, be done taking photos
May 28, have photos printed
May 31, have all paper ready and all other materials which I need for scrapbooking.
June 4, have all pages put together, bind book.
Budget (10)
My budget will include the cost of printing photos and all scrapbook materials. Luckily, I have a lot of coloured paper and scrapbook materials at home. Photos cost like 10-50 cents a print at the photo printer at kinkos. My book will be less than 50 pages. I’m thinking this will cost around 25$.
Design Planning (50)
1.Page Size – what size will your pages be? Why?
My page will be square and small. 15cm x 15cm I think.
2.Print media – What will you print on? What size?
I’ll print on photo paper, and the photos will be 4 x 5. This is the regular minimum standard so that’s what i’m going with.
3.Printing technology – What type(s) of printers will you be using? Why?
I’ll be using the photo printer at Kinkos.
4.Layout and grids – Include a large rough sample layout
...I’ll give this to you...later.
5.Typography – which fonts will you be using? Be specific. Why?
I’ll be using Times New Roman font, because it is clean and easily readable.
6.Colour(s) – set up a colour pallette for your book and include it with your book
...
7.Style – describe (verbally or visually) the style of your book.
Scrapbooky, but hopefully not tacky. Flowery. The book itself will be shaped like a closet. Each page will be a photo with a small description.
8.Handmade techniques – describe any handmade components you will be using
Paper cutting will be hand done, and I might do the cover by hand, or I will photograph my own closet.
9.Cover
It will look like a closet.
10.Create thumbnails of your pages and indicate your intended content
...I’ll do this at school too...
11.Binding – What type of binding do you intend to use? Why? How will you do it?
I’ll show you at school! It’s so cool! I found it on a website.
