Book Q's

Schedule (10)

The first phase of the book is to have completed all the writing elements of it (an extremely prominent part). This will account for approximately 90% of the book’s content and is scheduled to be done by May 21 (Friday).
The next component will be to draw any necessary visuals to accompany the writing element of this book and are scheduled to be done by May 24 (Monday). This will account for approximately 6% of the book’s content.
Assembling and making of the cd and the dvd—that will be placed on two respective pages in the book—will be scheduled to be done by May 29 (Saturday). The approximate 4% of remaining content in comparison to the amount of pages it takes up, but will encompass a larger portion of content when actually viewed/listened to as intended.
At this point all the inner content of the book will have been established, and assembly of it in the proper format (InDesign, Blurb or whatever) and be done by the following Friday, June 4.
The weekend will be devoted to designing the two covers and will be completed by Monday, June 7. Monday/Tuesday will be devoted to edited and reworking anything that has loose ends, and will be completely sent in to print by the end of Tuesday, June 8.
In the time it is being sent back there will be adamant time to compile

Budget (10)
$50 is a lot, I’ll definitely stay within it. Because this is my first and perhaps only book I will make I’m willing to pay a good amount.

Design Planning (50)

1. Page Size – what size will your pages be? Why?
7’x7’
I want a square book as it implies a somewhat rigid format, yet still unusual for a book. This is also the only square size my source provides.

2. Print media – What will you print on? What size?
Pages. I will print my book on pages.

3. Printing technology – What type(s) of printers will you be using? Why?
I will be outsourcing the printing of my book to a site.

4. Layout and grids – Include a large rough sample layout
I’ll provide this in a later post, it’ll be easier for me to draw it and then scan it.

5. Typography – which fonts will you be using? Be specific. Why?
Tahoma! I just really like this font! I like the name too

6. Colour(s) – set up a colour pallette for your book and include it with your
[Black, white] coral, pale blue, brown, light taupe: this could easily change once I complete writing and compile my book I could change the colours to something more formal and rigid.

7.Style – describe (verbally or visually) the style of your book.
As previously described, very rigid and formal but specific details will be constantly reworked until the final product.

8. Handmade techniques – describe any handmade components you will be using
Hand drawn images/designs, apart from those depicted on the cds/dvds.

9. Cover – Do a rough version of your cover and indicate materials\
Okay this will work better if I draw it out by hand and scan it, so I’ll post this with the other layout part.

10. Create thumbnails of your pages and indicate your intended content
Same thing here.

11. Binding – What type of binding do you intend to use? Why? How will you do it?
Standard book binding procedures will be utilized, carried out by the site in which I’ll send my work to.
